I found Jumpstart Medicine through a friend who had lost a lot of weight and looked and felt better. When she told me how it had changed her whole outlook about food, it intrigued me. I have been overweight most of my adult life and have “done it all” – liquid diets, fad diets, low carb diets, Nutri-system, and Weight Watchers – more times than I want to recollect. I had been avoiding my weight problem for a couple of years and Jumpstart was just what I needed – an aptly named Jumpstart!

The program is simple to follow. You eat regular foods and make your own choices. It is a lifestyle change, not a diet, and as such allows for occasional “indiscretions” that are important to you such as potatoes at Thanksgiving, an occasional glass of wine or a slice of your birthday cake. The program is easy to follow and fits into my family life with ease. The weight loss counselors are friendly, encouraging and non-judgmental.

I find that the individual counseling sessions are far more beneficial than the group settings used with other weight loss programs. We are talking about my issues, not someone else’s issues that have no bearing on my life.

I have been on the program 4 months now and am literally MELTING. I’ve lost 60 pounds! I still have a long way to go, but I have already had to purchase new clothes in a smaller size. I receive compliments almost daily on how good I look. That is all great, but the most important thing is how I FEEL. I have more energy. I’m happier. I’m in control of my weight, and I feel more in control of my life in general.

The Jumpstart Medicine program has taught me that my weight problem is something that I can overcome and manage long term. I have learned that my body is incredibly efficient at storing carbohydrates as fat, and while pretzels are technically fat free- with me, they end up as fat. I had been making the wrong choices thinking that I was choosing the healthy, low fat option.

I appreciate having a physician supervise my program and find the medical knowledge behind the plan fascinating. My Jumpstart doctor has always been friendly and interested in me and my progress. Finally, with Jumpstart Medicine, I’ve begun saying, “WHEN I reach my goal weight….” not “IF I reach my goal weight.”
