I was never an overweight person in my youth, but once I reached my mid 30s my weight began to climb. Year after year, pounds were accumulating and worse, they were accumulating around my mid-line where they are the most dangerous. Athough I escaped many of the common problems that typically arise from this type of metabolically active fat infiltrating the abdomen, in the past few year my blood pressure began to climb. My physicals, indeed any trip to my doctor, inevitably ended with – and you really need to lose weight.

I tried numerous times to lose the weight. I never pursued any “fad” diets or quick fixes as, being an engineer, whatever I tried had to stand up to scrutiny. Despite my best efforts, however, I would lose only 10 or so pounds that was quickly regained.

After I learned about Jumpstart and their approach and attended an initial visit, I decided to give it a go. I was on the one hand not all that hopeful given my past experience, but on the other hand I was committed, as I viewed this as my last option. It turned out to be a godsend.

The program is straightforward and easy to follow and it is based on medically sound principles. More important in achieving success, in my view, is the weekly attention by staff members who truly care about your progress and keep you on track. The staff will help you address your own particular circumstances.

In my own case, for example, I felt it was essential to combine the program with a strong commitment to regular exercise, exercise beyond what the program requires. The staff worked with me on program modification to fit that in.

I have lost roughly 50 pounds. My blood pressure and percentage body fat are now well within the normal range. On top of that I am getting stronger all the time and now jog four to five miles several times a week.

I feel extremely lucky and grateful to have come to this program. I have achieved great results and look forward, with Jumpstart’s help, to sustain my success for the rest of my life. The program clearly works and I whole heartedly recommend it to anyone I encounter who is interested in gaining control of their weight.
